Inaugural Dorothy Parker Read Here Reading
March 22, 2026 Core's Tavern
Dorothy Parker Read Here, a new Lo Sontag–curated literary event launching during Bloomfield Township’s official Women’s History Month programming. The inaugural reading will be held on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 2:00–4:30 p.m. at the historic Core Tavern (45 Franklin St, Bloomfield), home to the original Waldorf Astoria backbar—where, local lore suggests, Dorothy Parker herself may once have raised a glass.
The event co-hosted with Kimberly Organa-Solo features four acclaimed writers: Kem Joy Ukwu, celebrated short story writer, Locked Gray / Linked Blue (Kindred Books); Dr. Grisel Y. Acosta poet, CUNY professor, and New Jersey Council on the Arts Fellow; Kim Coleman Foote, award‑winning author of Coleman Hill (SJP Lit); and Apryl Lee, fiction writer, screenwriter, and founder of Montclair’s Halfway There series.
Dorothy Parker Read Here marks D10/11 Civic’s first cultural program, celebrating dynamic contemporary voices while honoring Parker’s lasting legacy.
If you would like to read in the limited open reading please contact the host via email losontag0@gmail.com by March 10.
Admission is free and open to the public.
